AC Shadows Unveils Bizarre Attack on Titan Event for Holiday Season
In a surprising collaboration that defies conventional forecasts, the game developer has announced an in-game partnership between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the popular anime series Attack on Titan. The surprising Thanksgiving event continues from November 25 through December 22, providing no-cost additional story content for Shadows players.
Strange Mission Revealed
According to the formal statement, "A mysterious meeting draws heroes Naoe and Yasuke into a new quest, where hints of forbidden rituals and terrifying metamorphoses echo through the shadows." The plot features a "oddly garbed woman named Ada" who tasks the characters with journeying into the Gemstone Grotto—a significant location from Attack on Titan—to liberate her companion from a hidden group.
The mission concentrates on "bizarre experiments and a fearsome adversary" and is available to all players who have unlocked the Yasuke character.
Familiar Locations and Changes
The preview highlights the Underground Chapel from Attack on Titan reimagined as the Crystal Cave. This historic location was previously where the Reiss royal family handed down the Founding Titan ability through ages. The preview ends with a striking scene showing a character, probably the prisoner, changing into a Titan that looms over Naoe and Yasuke.
Special Items and Extra Content
Players who finish the mission will obtain an unique katana in addition to multiple artifacts secreted throughout the area in secret chests. The update also features purchasable Attack on Titan item packs, featuring:
- Titan-based attire for Yasuke
- Mikasa costume for Naoe
- Special arms
- Survey Corps mount
Third Free Story Content
This release also adds the game's third free story content, titled "A Puzzlement." This playful mission pairs Naoe and Yasuke as they trade characteristic abilities: Naoe introduces a dramatic interpretation of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke acquires subduing stealth takedowns. True to its name, "The Enigma" also includes a fresh environmental puzzle that may finally explain some lingering questions from the main storyline.

This marks hardly the initial time the Assassin's Creed franchise has partnered with famous anime franchises. The series earlier showcased a 2020 cross-promotional story uniting Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga. Moreover, Valhalla subtly contained a quest that unmistakably nodded to the popular series One-Punch Man.
