Actor Refutes Anti-Vaxxer Views Following Narrating Controversial Coronavirus Film
Liam Neeson has lent his voice to a feature-length documentary that challenges the safety of vaccinations and lauds ex- health official Robert F Kennedy Jr.
The Documentary's Contentious Foundation
Called "Plague of Corruption," the project is inspired by a well-known publication published by a controversial scientist, who became famous during the health crisis for allegations that Covid was a result of a faulty batch of the influenza shot.
Her writing partner, Kent Heckenlively, has also written books with controversial radio host the Infowars host. Heckenlively wrote online praising Neeson's participation in the project.
A Strong Denial
Representatives for Neeson have issued a response firmly refuting suggestions that he supports anti-immunization sentiments.
"Everyone can understand that misconduct might be present within the pharmaceutical industry, but that cannot be confused with being against vaccines," the comment explains. "Liam never has been, and is not, against vaccines. His long work with Unicef underscores his consistent support for public-health initiatives."
It added that the actor was not involved in crafting the documentary's messaging and that questions about its content should be directed to the creators.
Major Claims Featured in the Documentary
In the film, the voiceover spoken by Neeson makes several controversial statements:
- It states that pro-vaccine voices have insisted on "complete compliance" to public institutions.
- It posits that "medical science has become highly politicised."
- Robert F Kennedy Jr is interviewed claiming, "The big problem with vaccines is that they simply are not safely tested."
- It takes aim at stay-at-home orders, claiming they caused mental anguish that cost thousands of lives.
- Regarding the immunizations, it mentions a view that they were "developed too quickly" and seen as "dangerous experiments."
Past Context and Current Debates
The film includes a past television report about clinical trials on children, which was afterwards the topic of a correction by the network for unbalanced reporting.
Last month, Kennedy directed the Centers for Disease Control to revise its longstanding position that there is no link between immunizations and autism. This claim is also referenced in the film, contrary to a new report from the WHO stating no such link has been found.
A Previous Record of Endorsement
Contrasting the documentary's message, Neeson has in the past shown clear advocacy for vaccines in his capacity as a Unicef global ambassador.
Previously, he described vaccines as "an extraordinary achievement," adding that "The discourse about vaccines in recent years has overlooked how much positive impact they have done... It is perhaps one of the biggest collective achievements in human history."
"Plague of Corruption" ends with Neeson's script saying, "This marks not the conclusion of our story. This is the dawn of a fresh chapter."
