An Australian man who vaulted across a fence and touched Hollywood star Ariana Grande has been expelled and prohibited from Singapore.
The man, twenty-six, was sentenced to nine days in jail for disrupting public order and has now been "prohibited from returning to Singapore," Singaporean immigration authorities stated to news outlets.
The man shoved through camera crews and charged at the performer and artist, who was attending the regional launch for Wicked: For Good on November 13. Co-performer Cynthia Erivo pulled him back from Grande.
Wen has a history of interrupting performances and celebrity events, including leaping onto the platform at Katy Perry's Sydney concert in the past June.
The occurrence provoked strong reactions in Singapore, with numerous people claiming he of causing further distress to the star.
The pop star has spoken of experiencing trauma-related anxiety after a suicide bomb attack at her concert in Manchester in spring of 2017 took the lives of over twenty people and hurt numerous attendees.
Throughout the court proceedings, the authorities learned he had attempted to intrude on the film's premiere multiple times, according to local news sources.
He then made a second attempt to jump the barricades. Protection personnel prevented him and pinned him down.
The man subsequently shared recordings expressing gratitude to the star for letting him on the carpet and said he was "at liberty."
Authorities detained him the next day and brought charges against him with disorderly conduct, to which Wen pleaded guilty.
The District Judge the judicial official was referenced by media reports as stating that he was looking for publicity, adding that he was incorrect to assume he would not face any penalties.
The singer has not addressed the situation.
Cynthia Erivo discussed the incident to the press, remarking that she "simply desired to ensure my friend was protected."
"I'm sure he didn't intend us injury, but you can't predict with such situations, and I aimed to confirm that she was alright. That was my first instinct," she commented.
