An extensive two-month cruise circling Australia has been cancelled in the wake of the death of an elderly female passenger who was stranded by the ship on a isolated coastal location.

The passenger had been hiking on the tropical location with other travelers from the vessel, but separated from the party for a pause. The vessel departed without her and came back after some time after the personnel became aware the passenger was unaccounted for.

An extensive hunt found her person the following day.

Investigative bodies are investigating the event, alongside investigators and the medical examiner.

The CEO of the cruise operator announced that guests and personnel on the vessel were notified that the remainder of the cruise had been called off due to the "sad loss and previous mechanical issues".

Via official communication, he mentioned that passengers would be issued a complete reimbursement, and said the operator was working "to organize the return journeys of the travelers via specially arranged planes".
